Manufacturing information, MES is the key
2018-08-28
1、Introduction

The rapid development of network information technology in today's society has greatly promoted the development of enterprise information technology process. Nowadays, ERP as the representative of the management information system CNC machining automation technology, has been used in enterprises on a large scale, management system and automation management makes in the production process of human production factors greatly reduced. Improve the overall production efficiency of the enterprise, and for the quality of the product strictly. Although these two types of systems marry a certain amount of results, but does not make the organic combination between the two, resulting in the lack of effective and timely information in the enterprise planning layer, the production layer is less rational scheduling and coordination. The planning and production layer of the enterprise cannot communicate with the production information in a timely manner, and cannot make timely and accurate information to give, but the production execution management system fills this gap. By controlling information including materials, production personnel, equipment, etc. to improve the competitiveness of enterprises in the market, providing a platform to integrate a multi-functional approach, thus realizing the real-time needs of enterprises in today's society.

2、Manufacturing Execution System
2.1 The meaning and functional model of MES
The concept of Manufacturing Execution System (MES) was first formed at the end of 1980s, and gradually took shape and gained rapid development in 1990s. AMR, an American advanced manufacturing research institute, defines MES as "a shop-floor-oriented management information system located between the upper-level planning management system and the bottom-level industrial control", and MES provides operators and managers with information on the planned execution, tracking and current status of all (people, equipment, materials and customer demand). information.

In the 3-layer enterprise integration model proposed by AMR in 1992, MES plays the role of an intermediate layer in the enterprise information system. Below the MES is the underlying production control system, including the large-scale distributed control system (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), NC/CNC and data acquisition and monitoring system SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition). (supervisory control and data acquisition) or a combination of these types; at the upper level of MES is the high-level management planning system, including ERP and MRP II.

MES as a manufacturing-oriented system must have a close relationship with other production management systems of enterprises. The MES International Federation has summarized 11 functional modules according to practice: resource management; detailed planning; production scheduling; document management; field data acquisition; human resources management; quality management; process management; equipment maintenance management; production tracking; and performance analysis. According to the development of the market and the successful implementation of the enterprise, Jingcheng Software EAS-MES found that the enterprise's software system not only demanded the above modules, but also the following modules for the later development of the enterprise statistics: basic data, customer orders, data collection, production reports, system management, production orders, equipment management, quality reports, personnel management, production tasks, quality management, comprehensive reports It also implements customized business development to meet the needs of customers, so that the management and development of enterprises can have longer-term advantages.

       2.2 Functions of MES
MES is a production execution system that leads to process and connects management, not only to solve the integration of management information and process information, but also to play the role of mutual transformation between the information generated by the production process and the management information, reflecting the functions of transmission, processing and conversion, etc. MES is the information link between ERP and PCS, and is the core of the integrated automation information system of the factory.
3、The analysis and linkage between the information system of execution layer and planning layer

For manufacturing enterprises, whether ERP or MES, its fundamental purpose is to meet customer demand, the premise of reducing inventory, speeding up capital turnover, improve the management level of enterprises to improve the enterprise's response to the market and production efficiency, improve the competitiveness of enterprises. MES can optimize the management of the entire production process from order placement to product completion through information transfer, and guide the production of the enterprise so that it can improve both the ability to deliver on time and the performance of material flow.

ERP is mainly for resource planning, doing historical analysis and predicting future events, but it lacks sufficient control over the information at the shop floor execution level and is unable to process real-time events in a timely manner; MES is a production management technology and real-time information system for the shop floor, which provides real-time information to the system through real-time monitoring, diagnosis and control of the production process and effectively guides the production operation of the factory. process, but it lacks effective decision-making information at the planning level.

ERP and MES are management information systems at the planning and execution levels, respectively. ERP production planning is constrained by existing production capacity, production equipment, raw materials, production workers and user orders, etc. The ERP-based management information technology needs to be extended from demand down to manufacturing execution and procurement execution process management and control, therefore, ERP system planning needs MES system provides effective information data to guide and process the enterprise plan; MES monitors, diagnoses and controls the production process in real time, completes the integration of production units and system optimization, and carries out material balancing, production planning, real-time scheduling and optimal dispatching at the production process level to achieve optimal management of the entire production process from order placement to product completion. MES provides the key linkage for ERP system and control system, and plays an important role in the whole enterprise information system.

3、System integration of MES and ERP
3.1 System integration between MES and ERP
MES needs to interact with the planning layer to achieve enterprise information integration through the continuous information flow of the enterprise. Therefore, the integration of MES and ERP is mainly the integration of information flow, which mainly enables MES to automatically accept information from ERP production tasks, when the data information in ERP changes with the market and customer orders, the data in MES is updated in real time; similarly, when the data information in MES changes, ERP can also get the information of the changes in real time, in ERP The same way, when the data information in MES changes, ERP can also get the changed information in real time and query the uploaded information of MES in ERP.

To achieve the integration of MES and ERP, the key lies in the optimization and integration of business processes and the specific analysis of the MES and ERP systems involved in order to give full play to the strengths of each system. First of all, information systems are for business services, MES and ERP each solve part of the business problem, respectively, reflecting part of the business process, the process is the "glue" of MES and ERP integration, through the overall optimization of the process to divide which processes are handled in MES, which processes are handled in ERP.

In terms of information interaction, MES submits production plan completion information, material and energy balance information, production capacity, material consumption, labor and production line operation performance, inventory status and actual order execution to the upper ERP layer, and other data related to production operation; meanwhile, it accepts production plan, order information, human resources, bill of materials (BOM) and process routes from ERP layer.

3.2 Integration mode of MES and ERP
Both MES and ERP adopt a Web-based 3-tier distributed architecture, with each component encapsulated in a Web server. A relational database system is used to provide a unified database interface module on the Web server side, and the data of the ERP system is stored in the database of the MES system through standard SQL statements to operate the back-end database; at the same time, the data of the Web system is stored in the database of the ERP system to achieve the purpose of system integration.
The integration of MES and ERP uses the preparation of interface programs encapsulated in the MES and ERP systems respectively, and ODBC, etc., is used to drive the database. When users enter commands in the browser, the MES or ERP system completes the operation of the database by calling the interface program encapsulated in the system.

3.3 MES and ERP system integration solutions
Manufacturing information construction objectively requires the effective integration of MES and ERP, and the integration method is to rationalize and optimize the production-related business processes, integrate MES and ERP together through the process, based on the "in" and "out" processes between MES and ERP "to design the interface between the 2 systems. For heterogeneous database system, to realize the system integration of MES and ERP, it is also necessary to convert the heterogeneous database.
Using open database interconnection technology and SQL statements, we can connect with different databases through drivers, and then convert heterogeneous databases through embedded SQL statements, and this way can realize real-time data conversion. Using Web technology, when users need to query related information, just enter commands in the browser and call each component of the system to make decisions or browse the results, the Web server accepts the request, searches the database for records that meet the conditions based on the content, and finally returns to the browser.

4、Integration of MES and ERP
Enterprise resource planning system and manufacturing execution system are 2 important systems in the enterprise integrated automation. Especially MES bridges the interval between enterprise planning layer and process control system in production plant, and is the link of manufacturing information integration. mES helps enterprises to implement complete closed-loop production by emphasizing the overall optimization of manufacturing process, and also provides a good foundation for the implementation of agile manufacturing enterprises. By understanding the advanced management ideas and inherent relationship of FRP and MES systems, and integrating them organically, we can improve both the planning level and execution capability of enterprises.
